Rihanna- We Found Love
So maybe I’m a week old but I’m still enjoying this little video. It’s gotten some mix reviews and interesting responses but I personally can’t knock it. Taking an upbeat song to tell this tragic tale of blissful, whirlwind love gone wrong is what makes it so unique and appealing. In four minutes not only do you get a whole story but also one you can actually connect to. The song itself is surface deep but the opening monologue spits truth and really sets the tone for the rest of the video.
Now for a deeper analysis…..
The video really brings to light the intoxicating nature of love. Starting a new relationship is one of the highest highs in life. The overwhelming sense of excitement and the ego boost is a feeling so nice once we get a taste of it we do not want to let it go. Speaking on my own personal experience, I know I’ve entertained people I didn’t even like because of the attention they gave. (Don’t act like you haven’t) We all want love and we all want it bad. Some of us are more addicted than others. I.e. if when watching this video you were inspired to recreate it…. Ummm… some self-evaluation might be needed. Any good that comes with THAT much bad is abusive. That’s not real love.
However, I can’t front. The video looks boucoup (New Orleans Slang for “A lot”) of fun. I would love to find someone who will push me in a cart down the street or have coke bottle squirt fight with me in a store. It low-key sucks that whenever love is displayed in media as a passionate whirlwind it always ends tragic. Like dang, I’m all for nice diners and flowers but I really want a dude that will kick rocks with me for hours and enjoy it. I’m a quirky dork other peoples stupid is my fun. So toast to the man who can enjoy fine dining, send roses for no reason, have an Ultimate Star Wars/ Lord of the Rings Marathon with me and will not beat/verbally abuse me. Looking forward to the day we meet!
